Position: HR Manager at The Dylan Amsterdam
Hi Simone, it is a pleasure to meet you! Can you tell us a little bit more about your function, what does it entail?
In August 2023, I joined The Dylan Amsterdam as HR manager, a role that I thoroughly enjoy diving into. In the human resources department, every day is unique; I move through a varied field of tasks and responsibilities, shaping a human resources policy at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. I am supported in this by an enthusiastic and eager-to-learn Hotel School trainee.
That sounds interesting! And why exactly did you choose for The Dylan?
What appealed to me immediately were the warm, intimate, and homely atmosphere. You cand definitely feel that people at The Dylan work with an astonishing eye for detail, they enjoy doing what they do and really care for each other.
We are glad you have joined The Dylan Family! How does your career look like as a HR manager?
My career in the human resources profession began back in 1997, and since then I have continued to expand my knowledge in various sectors, from hotels to telecoms, from staffing organizations to medical technology, both nationally and internationally. Yet the world of hospitality, especially working in a hotel, continues to attract me again and again.
A lot of work experiences I see! What do you like the most about being a HR Manager?
The beauty of my role as Human Resources manager is the commitment to the whole organization. I see it as my mission to always look ahead, see opportunities and encourage people to get the best out of themselves. My life motto is therefore: challenge yourself to grow and enjoy what you do!
That is a great life motto! How would you describe this motto in your leisure time?
This motto resonates not only in my professional life, but also in my role as a mother and regular supporter along the hockey field, where I encourage my children with equal enthusiasm. At home in Schagen, together with my husband Rik, we form a dynamic family with my three wonderful sons and my beautiful ‘bonus daughter’. From cosy holidays to hilarious game nights and cooking together for special occasions, we enjoy life and cherish the precious moments together.
In my spare time, I like to go explore as much as I can, both in The Netherlands and abroad. Dining out, or and watching a film by the fireplace accompanied by a good glass of wine are among my favorite pastimes. No wonder my favorite spot at The Dylan is the lounge, where the candles are burning, and the fireplace spreads a warm and cosy glow.
How wonderful! And what would be your future plans?
I love to be surprised. I am always up for new challenges and adventures, and I hope to have many more great moments at The Dylan!
